Upcoming Outdoor Recreation Programs: Nature, Birds & Adventure in May
Spring is in full swing, and we’ve got a full lineup of outdoor programs designed to help you explore, learn, and enjoy nature across our parks. From birdwatching walks to paddling adventures and hands-on nature fun for kids, there’s something for everyone this month!

Birdwatching Series | Friday, May 15
📍Twin Lakes Park | 8:00 - 10:00 AM
Come along with Outdoor Recreation staff and a member of New Hope Bird Alliance as we lead a bird outing and birdwatch at a city park. This is a 3-part series. Each bird outing takes place on a Friday and will occur at a different city park every week. The birdwatching series is open to all levels of birdwatching experience. Participants are encouraged to bring their own binoculars, as supplies is limited. Preregistration is required for all participants. Register Here.

Muddy Boots | Thursday, May 28
📍 Sandy Creek Park | 10:00 - 11:00 AM
One more opportunity this month for kids and families to explore nature through active, outdoor learning. Adventure in nature with your preschooler at the park. We'll read a nature-themed book, then take a walk on the wild side to find the nature right outside our door. Children must be accompanied by a parent, and of course, wear boots or sneakers that can get a little dirty! Parents must accompany children. Pre-registration is required. Birdwatching Series | Friday, May 29

Sunset Paddle | Friday, May 29
📍 Lake Michie | 6:30 - 8:30 PM
Savor a sunset on Lake Michie with this Sunset Paddle. We will paddle canoes and kayaks after closing and enjoy the peaceful sunset over the lake. DPR Outdoor Recreation will provide the equipment; you bring weather-appropriate clothing and closed-toe shoes. Youth under 16 must be accompanied by a registered adult. Black Birders Week Birdwatch Outing | Saturday, May 30

Celebrate Black Birders Week with a special guided birdwatching outing. This program is offered in partnership with Merrick Moore CDC and New Hope Bird Alliance, highlighting inclusion, education, and community in outdoor spaces. Register Here.
